Method

Preparing the Shrimp

  1. 1

    Season the Shrimp

In a large bowl, season the shrimp with salt and black pepper. Toss to coat evenly and set aside.

Breading the Shrimp

  1. 2

    Set Up Breading Station

Prepare three shallow dishes: one with flour, one with beaten eggs mixed with milk, and the last with breadcrumbs mixed with garlic powder and paprika.

  2. 3

    Bread the Shrimp

Dip each seasoned shrimp first in the flour, shaking off excess, then in the egg mixture, and finally coat with breadcrumbs. Place the breaded shrimp on a baking sheet.

Making the Cocktail Sauce

  1. 4

    Combine Cocktail Sauce Ingredients

In a small bowl, mix together ketchup, horseradish sauce, lemon juice, Worcestershire sauce, and salt to taste. Stir until well blended.

Frying the Shrimp

  1. 5

    Heat the Oil

In a large deep skillet or pot, heat vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).

  2. 6

    Fry the Shrimp

Carefully add the breaded shrimp to the hot oil in batches, making sure not to overcrowd the pan. Fry for about 2-3 minutes, or until golden brown and cooked through. Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.

Serving

  1. 7

    Serve

Arrange the fried shrimp on a serving platter and serve hot with the homemade cocktail sauce on the side.
