Prepare the Coffee Mixture

Brew Espresso
Brew 1 cup of strong espresso coffee and let it cool to room temperature.

Mix Coffee with Liqueur
In a shallow bowl, combine the cooled espresso and coffee liqueur. Set aside.
Prepare the Mascarpone Cream

Whisk Egg Yolks
In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the egg yolks and sugar until the mixture becomes pale and creamy.

Add Mascarpone
Gently fold in the mascarpone cheese into the egg yolk mixture until well combined.

Whip Heavy Cream
In a separate bowl, whip the heavy cream and vanilla extract until soft peaks form.

Combine Creams
Gently fold the whipped cream into the mascarpone mixture until fully incorporated.
Assemble the Tiramisu

Soak Ladyfingers
Quickly dip each ladyfinger into the coffee mixture, making sure not to soak them too long to prevent sogginess.

Layer the Tiramisu
In a 9x9 inch dish, create a layer of soaked ladyfingers, followed by a layer of mascarpone cream. Repeat the layers until all ingredients are used, finishing with the mascarpone cream on top.
Chill and Serve

Cover the dish with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 4 hours or overnight for the best flavor.

Before serving, dust the top with cocoa powder and sprinkle with dark chocolate shavings.
