Steak Marinade

Method

Marinate the Steak

  1. 1

    Prepare the Marinade

In a bowl, whisk together olive oil, soy sauce, minced garlic, chopped rosemary, black pepper, and salt to taste.

  2. 2

    Marinate the Steak

Place the hanger steak in a large zip-top bag or shallow dish. Pour the marinade over the steak, ensuring it’s well-coated. Seal the bag or cover the dish, and refrigerate for at least 1 hour, or overnight for best results.

Cook the Steak

  1. 3

    Preheat the Grill/Pan

Preheat your grill or a cast-iron skillet over medium-high heat.

  2. 4

    Remove from Marinade

Take the hanger steak out of the marinade and let excess marinade drip off. Discard the marinade.

  3. 5

    Cook the Steak

Place the steak on the hot grill or skillet. Cook for about 5-7 minutes on each side for medium-rare, or until desired doneness is reached.

  4. 6

    Rest the Steak

Remove the steak from the heat and let it rest for 5-10 minutes before slicing.

Prepare Optional Sides

  1. 7

    Cook Asparagus

In a separate pan, bring water to boil. Add the trimmed asparagus and blanch for 2-3 minutes. Remove and immediately place in ice water to stop cooking. Drain and set aside.

  2. 8

    Cook Baby Potatoes

In the same pan, add halved baby potatoes and boil for 10-12 minutes until tender. Drain and set aside.

  3. 9

    Sauté Asparagus and Potatoes

In a skillet, melt butter over medium heat. Add minced garlic and sauté for 30 seconds. Add asparagus and baby potatoes, tossing to coat and sauté for an additional 5 minutes. Garnish with chopped parsley.

Serve

  1. 10

    Slice and Serve

Slice the rested hanger steak against the grain and serve it with the sautéed asparagus and baby potatoes.
