Sausage and Broccoli Rabe

Cheese and Seasoning

Method

Prepare the Ingredients

  1. 1

    Prepare the Broccoli Rabe

In a large pot of boiling salted water, blanch the chopped broccoli rabe for about 2-3 minutes until bright green and slightly tender. Drain and set aside.

  2. 2

    Cook the Sausage

In a large skillet over medium heat, add the Italian sausage. Use a wooden spoon to break it up and cook for about 5-7 minutes until browned and cooked through.

Combine and Cook

  1. 3

    Combine Sausage and Broccoli Rabe

Add the blanched broccoli rabe to the skillet with the cooked sausage. Stir in the Calabrian chili paste and cook for another 2-3 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld. Season with salt and black pepper to taste.

  2. 4

    Cook the Gnocchi

In a separate pot, bring salted water to a boil. Add the potato gnocchi and cook until they float to the top, about 2-3 minutes. Use a slotted spoon to transfer the gnocchi to the skillet with the sausage and broccoli rabe.

  3. 5

    Finish the Dish

Add the olive oil and grated pecorino Romano cheese to the skillet. Toss everything together gently to combine, ensuring that the gnocchi are well-coated with the sauce and cheese.

Serve

  1. 6

    Plate the Dish

Serve the gnocchi hot, garnished with additional pecorino Romano cheese and a drizzle of olive oil if desired. Enjoy!
