Pasta

Method

Cooking Pasta

  1. 1

    Boil the Pasta

In a large pot, bring water to a boil. Add 1 teaspoon of salt. Once boiling, add the penne pasta and cook according to package instructions until al dente, usually about 10-12 minutes.

  2. 2

    Drain the Pasta

Once cooked, drain the pasta in a colander and set aside. Do not rinse.

Making the Sauce

  1. 3

    Heat the Oil

In a large skillet, heat 2 tablespoons of olive oil over medium heat.

  2. 4

    Sauté Garlic

Add the minced garlic to the skillet and sauté for about 1-2 minutes until fragrant, being careful not to burn it.

  3. 5

    Add Tomatoes and Spices

Pour in the crushed tomatoes and add oregano, basil, red pepper flakes, salt, and pepper. Stir well and let it simmer for about 10 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld.

  4. 6

    Combine Pasta and Sauce

Add the drained penne pasta to the skillet with the sauce. Toss to combine, ensuring the pasta is well coated.

  5. 7

    Add Parmesan

Sprinkle grated Parmesan cheese over the pasta and mix well. Let it heat through for another 2 minutes.

Garnishing

  1. 8

    Serve the Dish

Plate the pasta, garnishing with fresh basil leaves and a drizzle of extra virgin olive oil. Serve hot.
