Strawberry Syrup

Method

Strawberry Syrup Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Strawberries

Wash the fresh strawberries thoroughly under running water. Remove the stems and cut them into halves.

  2. 2

    Cook the Syrup

In a medium saucepan, combine the halved strawberries, sugar, and water. Bring the mixture to a boil over medium heat, stirring occasionally until the sugar dissolves.

  3. 3

    Simmer

Once boiling, reduce the heat and let it simmer for about 15 minutes, until the strawberries are soft and the syrup thickens slightly.

  4. 4

    Strain the Syrup

Remove from heat and let it cool for a few minutes. Strain the syrup through a fine mesh sieve into a bowl, discarding the solid pieces of strawberry.

  5. 5

    Store the Syrup

Let the syrup cool completely before transferring it to an airtight container. Store in the refrigerator until ready to use.

Spritz Assembly

  1. 6

    Prepare the Glasses

Take two tall glasses and fill each with ice cubes to your preference.

  2. 7

    Add Strawberry Syrup

Pour 2 tablespoons of the prepared strawberry syrup into each glass over the ice.

  3. 8

    Incorporate Grapefruit Juice

Add half a cup of fresh grapefruit juice to each glass, mixing gently with a spoon.

  4. 9

    Add Soda Water

Top off each glass with one cup of soda water, pouring slowly to maintain the fizz.

  5. 10

    Garnish and Serve

Garnish each drink with fresh strawberries and a slice of grapefruit on the rim. Serve immediately and enjoy!
