Make the Gnocchi

Prepare the Dough
In a large bowl, combine ricotta, egg, and salt. Gradually mix in flour until a soft dough forms. Do not overwork the dough.

Shape the Gnocchi
Divide the dough into sections and roll each section into a long rope, about 1/2 inch thick. Cut into 1-inch pieces. Press each piece with a fork to create ridges.
Cook the Gnocchi

Boil the Gnocchi
Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add gnocchi in batches, cooking until they float to the surface (about 2-3 minutes). Remove with a slotted spoon.

Toss the cooked gnocchi with the tomato sauce. Serve topped with whipped ricotta, grated Grana Padano, and fresh basil leaves.
