Cooking the Pasta

Boil the Water
In a large pot, bring 4 liters of water to a boil. Add 1 tsp of salt to the boiling water.

Cook the Spaghetti
Add the spaghetti to the boiling water and cook according to package instructions, usually about 8-10 minutes, until al dente.

Drain the Pasta
Once cooked, reserve 1 cup of pasta water and then drain the spaghetti in a colander.
Preparing the Tuna Sauce

Heat the Olive Oil
In a large skillet over medium heat, add 2 tablespoons of olive oil and heat until shimmering.

Add Tuna and Tomatoes
Drain the canned tuna and add it to the skillet along with the rosa tomatoes. Cook for about 5 minutes, stirring occasionally until the tomatoes start to soften.

Season the Sauce
Stir in the red pepper flakes and season with black pepper to taste. Cook for another 2 minutes to combine the flavors.

Combine with Pasta
Add the cooked spaghetti to the skillet with the tuna sauce. Toss everything together, adding reserved pasta water a little at a time if needed to loosen the sauce.

Finish with Basil
Remove from heat and stir in the chopped fresh basil. Serve immediately.
