Dough Preparation
- 1
Mixing the Dough
In a large mixing bowl, combine the warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until it becomes frothy.
- 2
Add the olive oil, flour, and salt to the yeast mixture. Stir until the dough begins to form.
- 3
Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 8-10 minutes until it becomes smooth and elastic.
- 4
Place the dough in a lightly oiled bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until it doubles in size.
Pizza Assembly
- 5
Preheat the Oven
Preheat your oven to 475°F (245°C). If using a pizza stone, place it in the oven to heat up.
- 6
Once the dough has risen, punch it down to release air. Roll it out on a floured surface to your desired thickness.
- 7
Transfer the rolled-out dough to a pizza peel or a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- 8
Spread the tomato sauce evenly over the dough, leaving a small border around the edges.
- 9
Tear the fresh mozzarella into pieces and distribute them evenly on top of the sauce.
- 10
Sprinkle salt to taste and drizzle with extra virgin olive oil.
- 11
Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes or until the crust is golden and the cheese is bubbly.
- 12
Remove the pizza from the oven and top it with fresh basil leaves.
- 13
Slice and serve hot.
