Potato Preparation

Optional Toppings

Method

Potato Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the potatoes

Wash and peel the russet potatoes. Cut them into thin slices, approximately 1/4 inch thick.

  2. 2

    Soak the potatoes

Place the sliced potatoes in a large bowl filled with water and add salt. Let them soak for at least 30 minutes to remove excess starch and help them crisp up during frying.

Breading Mixture

  1. 3

    Mix the dry ingredients

In a large bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, cornstarch, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, and black pepper. Mix well until all ingredients are evenly distributed.

Frying

  1. 4

    Heat the oil

In a deep frying pot or heavy-bottomed pan, pour in the vegetable oil and heat over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).

  2. 5

    Bread the potatoes

Drain the soaked potato slices and pat them dry with a paper towel. Dredge each slice in the breading mixture, ensuring they are evenly coated.

  3. 6

    Fry the potatoes

Carefully place the breaded potato slices in the hot oil, working in batches to avoid overcrowding. Fry for about 4-5 minutes or until they are golden brown and crispy. Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.

Serving

  1. 7

    Garnish and serve

Sprinkle the fried lattice fries with grated Parmesan cheese and chopped parsley, if desired. Serve hot with ketchup and hot sauce on the side for dipping.
