Method
Preparation of Lasagna Noodles
- 1
Cook Lasagna Noodles
Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Cook the lasagna noodles according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and lay them flat on a clean kitchen towel to prevent sticking.
Making Artichoke Filling
- 2
Prepare Artichoke Filling
In a food processor, combine the canned artichoke hearts (drained), ricotta cheese, grated Parmesan cheese, fresh basil leaves, garlic cloves (minced), salt, and black pepper. Pulse until well blended and creamy. Set aside.
Preparing White Sauce
- 3
Make White Sauce
In a saucepan, melt the unsalted butter over medium heat. Once melted, whisk in the all-purpose flour and cook for about 2 minutes until it forms a paste. Gradually add the milk while continuously whisking to avoid lumps. Cook until the sauce thickens, about 5-7 minutes, then stir in nutmeg and salt. Remove from heat.
Assembling the Lasagna
- 4
Layering the Lasagna
Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F). In a baking dish, spread a layer of white sauce on the bottom. Place 3 lasagna noodles over the sauce, then spread half of the artichoke filling on top. Add another layer of white sauce and repeat the layers (noodles, filling, sauce) until all ingredients are used, finishing with a layer of white sauce on top.
Topping the Lasagna
- 5
Add Topping
Sprinkle the mozzarella cheese evenly over the top layer of white sauce. Garnish with chopped fresh parsley.
Baking the Lasagna
- 6
Bake
Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil and bake in the preheated oven for 25 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and golden brown. Allow to cool for a few minutes before slicing and serving.
