For the Chicken

For the Hot Sauce Dip

Method

Preparation of Chicken

  1. 1

    Marinate Chicken

In a large bowl, combine buttermilk and hot sauce. Add the chicken breasts, ensuring they are fully submerged. Cover and refrigerate for at least 2 hours or overnight for best results.

  2. 2

    Prepare Breading

In a separate bowl, mix together the flour, cornstarch, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper to create the breading mixture.

Frying the Chicken

  1. 3

    Heat Oil

In a large heavy skillet or deep fryer, heat vegetable oil to 350°F (175°C).

  2. 4

    Bread the Chicken

Remove the chicken from the marinade, allowing excess liquid to drip off. Dredge each piece in the breading mixture, ensuring an even coating.

  3. 5

    Fry the Chicken

Carefully place the breaded chicken pieces into the hot oil. Fry for about 6-8 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and cooked through. Use a meat thermometer to ensure the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C).

  4. 6

    Drain

Remove the chicken from the oil and place it on a wire rack or paper towels to drain excess oil.

Hot Sauce Dip Preparation

  1. 7

    Melt Butter

In a small saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter.

  2. 8

    Combine Ingredients

Once the butter is melted, stir in the hot sauce and honey. Mix until well combined and heated through.

Serving

  1. 9

    Serve Chicken

Serve the hot chicken pieces on a platter, drizzled with the hot sauce dip or served on the side for dipping.
