Dumpling Dough

Sauce (optional)

Method

Dumpling Dough Preparation

  1. 1

    Mix the Dough

In a large mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour and salt. Make a well in the center and add the egg and water. Mix until a dough forms.

  2. 2

    Knead

Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic. Cover the dough with a damp cloth and let it rest for 30 minutes.

Filling Preparation

  1. 3

    Cook the Mushrooms

In a skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add minced garlic and sauté for about 30 seconds until fragrant. Add finely chopped mushrooms, salt, and pepper, and cook until mushrooms are browned and moisture has evaporated, about 5-7 minutes. Remove from heat.

  2. 4

    Mix the Filling

In a bowl, combine the cooked mushroom mixture with ricotta cheese, chopped parsley, and grated Parmesan cheese. Mix well until all ingredients are evenly combined.

Dumpling Assembly

  1. 5

    Roll Out the Dough

On a floured surface, roll out the rested dough to about 1/8-inch thickness. Cut into circles using a round cutter or glass.

  2. 6

    Fill the Dumplings

Place a teaspoon of filling in the center of each dough circle. Fold over to create a half-moon shape, pinching the edges to seal tightly.

Cooking the Dumplings

  1. 7

    Boil the Dumplings

Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Carefully drop the dumplings in batches and cook for about 3-5 minutes or until they float to the surface. Remove with a slotted spoon.

  2. 8

    Prepare the Sauce (Optional)

In a separate skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Add sage leaves and cook until the butter is browned, about 2-3 minutes. Season with salt.

  3. 9

    Serve

Serve the dumplings warm, drizzled with sage brown butter sauce if desired. Enjoy!
