Method
Prep & Glass
- 1
Chill glass and salt rim
If desired, chill a rocks or coupe glass in the freezer for 5–10 minutes. Rub a lime wedge around the rim of the glass, then dip the rim into a shallow plate of coarse sea salt to coat. Set the glass aside.
Mixing
- 2
Measure and add to shaker
Fill a cocktail shaker about two-thirds full with ice. Add 2 oz silver tequila, 0.5 oz Cointreau, 0.25 oz Grand Marnier, 0.25 oz triple sec and 1 oz freshly squeezed lime juice. If you prefer a slightly sweeter profile, add 0.25 oz agave nectar or simple syrup.
- 3
Hand-shake technique
Secure the shaker and shake vigorously for 12–18 seconds until the shaker exterior becomes very cold and you hear a solid slosh — this both chills and dilutes the cocktail to the proper balance.
- 4
Strain and serve
Double-strain the mixture into the prepared chilled, salted glass over fresh ice (or serve up without ice per preference).
Garnish & Finish
- 5
Garnish with a lime wheel or wedge on the rim. Serve immediately.
