Margarita Mix
Glass & Garnish
Method
Prepare Glass & Garnish
- 1
Rim the glass
Run a lime wedge around the outer rim of a rocks or coupe glass (depending on presentation). Pour the coarse salt onto a small plate and invert the moistened rim into the salt to create an even salt rim. Set the glass aside.
- 2
Build & Shake Margarita
- 3
Add ice to a cocktail shaker until about 2/3 full (enough to chill and properly dilute).
- 4
Pour in 3 oz Tres Generaciones Reposado tequila, 1 oz Patrón Citronge, 1 oz fresh lime juice, 0.5 oz fresh lemon juice and 0.5 oz simple syrup into the shaker.
- 5
If you prefer a slightly lighter mouthfeel, add 0.25 oz cold water or club soda to the shaker (optional).
- 6
Secure the shaker lid and shake vigorously for 12–15 seconds, until the shaker is well chilled and slightly frosted. This both chills and dilutes the cocktail to balance the alcohol and citrus.
Strain & Garnish
- 7
If serving straight up (no ice in glass), double-strain the contents into the chilled glass using a Hawthorne strainer and a fine mesh strainer to catch ice shards and pulp. If serving on the rocks, fill the rimmed glass with fresh ice and strain the cocktail over the ice.
- 8
Garnish the drink with the lime wheel or wedge on the rim. Optionally express a lime peel over the top to release oils for extra aroma.
- 9
Serve immediately with a cocktail napkin.
