Method

Cocktail

  1. 1

    Chill glass

If desired, chill a copper mug or highball glass in the freezer for 5–10 minutes before making the drink.

  2. 2

    Add base ingredients

Fill the chilled mug or glass with the cubed ice. Pour in 2 oz Patron Silver tequila, 0.75 oz fresh lime juice, and 0.5 oz agave nectar directly over the ice.

  3. 3

    Combine

Gently stir the tequila, lime juice, and agave with a bar spoon for 5–8 seconds to mix and slightly chill the mixture without flattening carbonation later.

  4. 4

    Top with ginger beer

Slowly pour 4 oz chilled ginger beer into the glass to top, pouring down the side or over the back of a spoon to preserve carbonation. Give a single gentle stir to integrate but keep effervescence.

  5. 5

    Taste and adjust

Taste the mule. If you prefer it sweeter, add up to 0.25 oz more agave and gently stir once. If you prefer more tartness, add another 0.25 oz fresh lime juice.

  6. 6

    Garnish and serve

Garnish with a lime wheel or wedge on the rim and, if using, a small piece of candied or fresh sliced ginger. Serve immediately with a straw.
