Cocktail

Method

Prepare Glass

  1. 1

    Chill and rim

Chill a rocks or coupe glass in the freezer for 5–10 minutes. Rub a lime wedge around the rim of the chilled glass, then dip the rim into a shallow plate of coarse sea salt to coat evenly. Set the glass aside.

Mix Cocktail

  1. 2

    Combine ingredients

In a cocktail shaker, add 2 oz Sauza Hornitos tequila, 1 oz Blue Curaçao, 1 oz fresh lime juice, 0.5 oz fresh lemon juice, 0.5 oz agave syrup, and 0.25 oz orange liqueur (if using).

  2. 3

    Add ice

Fill the shaker with ice (about 8 oz worth or enough to three-quarters fill the shaker).

  3. 4

    Shake

Secure the shaker and shake vigorously for 12–15 seconds until the shaker exterior becomes very cold and slightly frosted. This chills and dilutes the cocktail to balance sweetness and acidity.

  4. 5

    Strain

Double strain (using both the shaker’s strainer and a fine mesh strainer) into the prepared chilled, salted glass over fresh ice if serving on the rocks, or neat into the chilled coupe for a slightly stronger presentation.

Finish & Serve

  1. 6

Express a lime peel over the drink (optional) to release citrus oils, then rub the peel on the glass rim and drop a lime wheel or wedge into or on the rim. Add a lemon twist if you like extra citrus aroma. Serve immediately.
