Method
Bread & Spread
Preheat oven
Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C). Position an oven rack in the middle.
Prepare garlic butter
In a medium bowl, combine softened butter, olive oil, minced garlic, chopped parsley, salt, and black pepper. Mix until smooth and uniform.
Slice the bread
Cut the loaf in half lengthwise so you have two flat surfaces. If preferred, cut into 1-inch thick slices without cutting all the way through for pull-apart style; this recipe uses halved loaf for even topping.
Cheese & Topping
Add cheeses
Evenly sprinkle the shredded Mozzarella over the buttered cut surfaces. Follow with a light dusting of grated Parmesan. Press gently so cheese adheres to the butter.
Season
Sprinkle dried oregano and, if using, red pepper flakes evenly over the cheese for extra flavor.
Bake until bubbly
Place the assembled bread on a baking sheet lined with foil or parchment. Bake in the preheated oven for 10–12 minutes until the cheese is melted and bubbling. For a golden, slightly charred top, switch to broil on high for 1–2 minutes while watching closely to avoid burning.
Serve
Finish & slice
Remove the bread from the oven and let rest 2 minutes. If using halved loaf, slice into 1–1.5 inch pieces. If pull-apart style, cut through to separate portions.
