Brewing Process

  1. 1

    Prepare Your Equipment

Ensure all brewing equipment is sanitized and ready for use.

  2. 2

    Mashing

Heat 5 gallons of filtered water to 165°F (74°C). Add the crushed grains to the water and maintain the temperature between 150°F to 155°F (65°C to 68°C) for 60 minutes.

  3. 3

    Sparging

After mashing, sparge the grains with hot water to collect the wort. Aim to collect about 6-7 gallons of wort.

  4. 4

    Boiling

Bring the wort to a boil. Once boiling, add the Fuggle hops and boil for 60 minutes.

  5. 5

    Cooling the Wort

After boiling, cool the wort quickly to about 70°F (21°C) using a wort chiller.

  6. 6

    Fermentation

Transfer the cooled wort to a fermentation vessel. Pitch the English ale yeast and seal the vessel. Allow it to ferment for 1-2 weeks.

  7. 7

    Coffee Addition

After primary fermentation, steep the Tofino roasting coffee in a small amount of boiling water for 15 minutes. Strain and add to the beer.

  8. 8

    Bottling

Once fermentation is complete, bottle the beer with priming sugar and allow it to carbonate for another 1-2 weeks.
