Fried Chicken
Method
Cooking Instructions
- 1
Marinate the Chicken
In a large bowl, combine the buttermilk, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, and black pepper. Add the chicken halves, ensuring they are well coated. Cover and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, preferably overnight.
- 2
Prepare the Coating
In a shallow dish, mix together the flour, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper.
- 3
Heat the Oil
In a large, deep skillet or dutch oven, heat vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).
- 4
Coat the Chicken
Remove the chicken from the buttermilk marinade, allowing excess to drip off. Dredge each piece in the seasoned flour, pressing down to ensure a good coating.
- 5
Fry the Chicken
Carefully place the coated chicken into the hot oil, skin-side down. Fry for about 10-12 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and cooked through (internal temperature should reach 165°F or 74°C).
- 6
Drain and Serve
Once cooked, remove the chicken from the oil and place on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil. Serve hot.
