Gnocchi

Method

Cooking Instructions

  1. 1

    Prepare the Potatoes

Boil the potatoes in salted water until tender. Drain and let cool slightly. Peel and mash the potatoes until smooth.

  2. 2

    Make the Gnocchi Dough

In a large bowl, combine the mashed potatoes, flour, egg, and salt. Mix until a dough forms. If the dough is too sticky, add a bit more flour.

  3. 3

    Shape the Gnocchi

Divide the dough into four pieces. Roll each piece into a long rope about 1/2 inch thick. Cut into 1-inch pieces and shape each piece with a fork to create ridges.

  4. 4

    Cook the Gnocchi

Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the gnocchi and cook until they float to the surface, about 2-3 minutes. Remove with a slotted spoon and set aside.

  5. 5

    Brown the Butter

In a large skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and cook until fragrant. Continue cooking until the butter turns golden brown.

  6. 6

    Combine and Serve

Add the cooked gnocchi to the skillet, tossing to coat in the brown butter. Stir in chopped basil and grated Grana Padano cheese. Season with black pepper to taste and serve immediately.
