Steak and Fries

Method

Preparation and Cooking

  1. 1

    Prepare the Fries

Wash and cut the potatoes into thin strips. Soak them in cold water for at least 30 minutes to remove excess starch.

  2. 2

    Cook the Fries

Drain and pat the potatoes dry. Heat olive oil in a deep fryer or large pot to 350°F (175°C). Fry the potatoes in batches until golden brown and crispy, about 5-7 minutes. Remove and drain on paper towels. Season with salt to taste.

  3. 3

    Cook the Steak

Preheat a skillet or grill pan over high heat. Season the strip steak with salt and black pepper on both sides. Sear the steak for about 4-5 minutes per side for medium-rare, or until your desired doneness.

  4. 4

    Make the Bistro Butter

In a small bowl, mix softened butter with minced garlic and chopped parsley. Set aside.

  5. 5

    Serve

Let the steak rest for a few minutes after cooking. Slice and serve alongside the fries, topped with a dollop of bistro butter.
