Cocktail

Method

Cocktail

  1. 1

    Make honey syrup (if needed)

If you don't have honey syrup ready, combine equal parts honey and hot water (for example 1/4 cup honey + 1/4 cup hot water). Stir until the honey fully dissolves. Allow to cool to room temperature before using.

  2. 2

    Prepare glass

Chill a coupe or rocks glass by filling it with ice and cold water while you build the cocktail.

  3. 3

    Shake

Add 2 oz Teeling Irish whiskey, 0.75 oz fresh lemon juice, 0.5 oz honey syrup, 0.25 oz orange liqueur, and 2 dashes Angostura bitters into a cocktail shaker. Add a generous handful of ice (about 1 cup). Secure the lid and shake vigorously for 12–18 seconds until the shaker is very cold to the touch and a light dilution is evident.

  4. 4

    Strain

Discard the ice and water from your chilled glass. Double-strain the contents of the shaker into the chilled coupe or over fresh large ice in a rocks glass, depending on preference.

  5. 5

    Garnish & finish

Express the oils of an orange twist over the drink by holding the twist skin-side down above the glass and giving it a quick squeeze. Run the twist around the rim and drop it into the drink. Optionally add a lemon wheel on the rim for a brighter aroma. Serve immediately.
