Prepare the Glass
Take a lime wedge and run it around the rim of the glass. Dip the rim into salt to coat it evenly. Set the glass aside.

Mix the Cocktail
In a cocktail shaker, combine the tequila, triple sec, and fresh lime juice. If making a blended margarita, add the ice to the shaker.

Shake or Blend
If using a shaker, fill it with ice and shake the mixture vigorously for about 15 seconds. For a blended margarita, blend the mixture on high until smooth.

Pour and Garnish
Strain the mixture into the prepared glass filled with ice (if served on the rocks) or pour directly into the salted rim glass (if blended). Garnish with a lime wedge on the rim.
