Filling Preparation
- 1
Sauté the Vegetables
In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and minced garlic, sautéing until the onion becomes translucent, about 3-4 minutes.
- 2
- 3
Combine with Cream Cheese
In a large bowl, combine the sautéed mushroom mixture with the cream cheese, mixing until well blended. Allow to cool slightly while preparing the pastry.
Assembling the Strudel
- 4
Preheat the Oven
Preheat your oven to 200°C (400°F).
- 5
Prepare the Pastry
On a lightly floured surface, roll out each puff pastry sheet to smooth out any creases. Cut each sheet in half if necessary.
- 6
Fill the Pastry
Place a portion of the mushroom and cream cheese filling along one edge of each pastry sheet. Roll the pastry over the filling, tucking the edges in as you go to create a sealed log shape.
- 7
Brush and Bake
Place the strudels seam-side down on a baking tray lined with parchment paper. Brush the tops with a little olive oil or an egg wash for a golden finish. Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes until golden brown and puffed.
