Method

Preparing the Dough

  1. 1

    Activate Yeast

In a small bowl, combine warm milk (about 110°F/43°C) and active dry yeast. Let it sit for 5-10 minutes until it becomes frothy.

  2. 2

    Mix Dry Ingredients

In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, granulated sugar, and salt.

  3. 3

    Combine Wet Ingredients

In another bowl, beat the eggs and melted butter together. Add the yeast mixture and mix well.

  4. 4

    Combine Wet and Dry

Pour the wet mixture into the dry ingredients and mix until a soft dough forms. Knead for about 5-7 minutes until smooth.

  5. 5

    Let the Dough Rise

Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a towel, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.

Preparing the Coating

  1. 6

    Melt Butter

In a small saucepan, melt 1 cup of unsalted butter over low heat. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.

  2. 7

    Mix Cinnamon Sugar

In a separate bowl, combine 1 cup of granulated sugar and 2 tablespoons of ground cinnamon.

Assembling the Monkey Bread

  1. 8

    Preheat Oven

Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).

  2. 9

    Shape Dough

Once the dough has risen, punch it down and tear it into small pieces (about 1 inch in size).

  3. 10

    Coat Dough Pieces

Dip each piece of dough in the melted butter, then roll it in the cinnamon sugar mixture to coat.

  4. 11

    Layer in Pan

Place the coated dough pieces into a greased bundt pan, layering them as you go.

  5. 12

    Bake

Pour any remaining butter over the top and bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes until golden brown.

  6. 13

    Cool

Allow the monkey bread to cool in the pan for 10 minutes before inverting onto a serving plate.

Preparing the Cream Cheese Icing

  1. 14

    Blend Ingredients

In a medium bowl, beat together the cream cheese, powdered sugar, vanilla extract, and milk until smooth and creamy.

  2. 15

    Drizzle Over Bread

Once the monkey bread has cooled, drizzle the cream cheese icing over the top before serving.
