Preparation

  1. 1

    Chill the Glass

Begin by chilling a cocktail glass. You can do this by filling it with ice water and letting it sit while you prepare the drink.

  2. 2

    Mix the Ingredients

In a mixing glass, add 2 oz of rye whiskey, 1 oz of Averna Amaro, and 2 dashes of Angostura bitters.

  3. 3

    Add Ice

Fill the mixing glass with ice cubes (about 1 cup) to chill the mixture.

  4. 4

    Stir the Mixture

Using a bar spoon, stir the mixture gently but thoroughly for about 30 seconds until well chilled.

  5. 5

    Strain into Glass

Empty the ice water from the chilled cocktail glass and strain the mixed drink into the glass.

  6. 6

    Garnish

Garnish with a maraschino cherry and an orange twist for added flavor and visual appeal.
