Espresso Ingredients
Method
Espresso Preparation
- 1
Grinding the Beans
Using a coffee grinder, grind 18 grams of espresso coffee beans to a fine consistency, similar to table salt. Make sure the grind size is appropriate for espresso to ensure optimal extraction.
- 2
Preparing the Espresso Machine
Turn on your espresso machine and allow it to heat up for at least 15 minutes. This ensures that the machine reaches the ideal brewing temperature.
- 3
Tamping the Coffee
Place the freshly ground coffee into the portafilter. Use a tamper to apply even pressure to the grounds, creating a smooth and level coffee puck. Aim for about 30 pounds of pressure.
- 4
Brewing the Espresso
Lock the portafilter into the espresso machine group head. Start the extraction process. For a single shot, aim for a brewing time of 25-30 seconds, and for a long pour, adjust the water volume to 60 ml and extend the brewing time to 40-45 seconds.
