Sandwich

Method

Sandwich

  1. 1

    Prepare and cook bacon

Place bacon slices in a single layer in a cold skillet. Turn heat to medium and cook, flipping occasionally, until bacon is evenly browned and crisped to your preference, about 8–12 minutes. Transfer bacon to a plate lined with paper towels to drain.

  2. 2

    Toast bread

While bacon rests, lightly butter one side of each bread slice if using. Toast the bread (buttered side down if using a skillet) in a separate skillet over medium heat or use a toaster until golden and crisp, about 2–3 minutes per side in a skillet or 2–3 cycles in a toaster depending on appliance. Remove and place buttered sides up on a cutting board or plate.

  3. 3

    Prepare tomato

Season the tomato slices with the salt and black pepper evenly on both sides.

  4. 4

    Assemble sandwich

Spread mayonnaise evenly on the unbuttered sides of both toasted bread slices. On one slice, place the lettuce leaves, then the seasoned tomato slices, then the drained bacon slices. Top with the second slice of toasted bread, mayo side down.

  5. 5

    Finish and serve

Press sandwich gently to compact, cut in half diagonally or down the middle if desired, and serve immediately while warm and crisp.
