Filet Mignon

Garlic Mashed Potatoes

Method

Filet Mignon

  1. 1

    Prepare the Steaks

Remove the filet mignon steaks from the refrigerator and let them sit at room temperature for 30 minutes before grilling.

  2. 2

    Season the Steaks

Rub the steaks with olive oil, and season both sides generously with salt, black pepper, and garlic powder.

  3. 3

    Preheat the Grill

Preheat your grill to high heat (about 450-500°F or 230-260°C).

  4. 4

    Grill the Steaks

Place the seasoned steaks on the grill. Cook for about 4-5 minutes on each side for medium-rare, adjusting time for your desired doneness.

  5. 5

    Rest the Steaks

Remove the steaks from the grill and let them rest for 5-10 minutes before serving.

Garlic Mashed Potatoes

  1. 6

    Boil the Potatoes

Peel and cut the potatoes into quarters. Place them in a large pot of salted water and bring to a boil over high heat. Cook until fork-tender, about 15-20 minutes.

  2. 7

    Prepare the Garlic

While the potatoes are boiling, peel the garlic cloves and place them in a small saucepan with a little water. Simmer for about 10 minutes until softened.

  3. 8

    Mash the Potatoes

Drain the potatoes and return them to the pot. Add the softened garlic, butter, heavy cream, salt, and black pepper.

  4. 9

    Combine and Serve

Mash the potatoes until smooth and creamy. Adjust seasoning to taste. Serve hot with the grilled filet mignon.
