Mudslide Cocktail

Method

Mudslide Cocktail

1

Prep glass

Chill a hurricane glass or large rocks glass in the freezer for 5–10 minutes. If you want a decorative chocolate-drip look, drizzle 1–2 teaspoons of chocolate syrup inside the chilled glass, letting it streak down the sides; place glass back in freezer while you mix the drink.

2

Build (Frozen Mudslide - blended)

Add 1.5 oz vodka, 1 oz coffee liqueur, 1 oz Irish cream, 1 tbsp chocolate syrup, 2 scoops vanilla ice cream, 2 oz milk (or half-and-half) and 1 cup ice to a blender. Secure lid and blend on high until smooth and creamy (about 20–30 seconds). If mixture is too thick, add 1–2 tablespoons milk and pulse to combine; if too thin, add a few more ice cubes and re-blend.

3

Build (On the Rocks Mudslide - shaken)

If you prefer the classic shaken version: fill a cocktail shaker with ice, add 1.5 oz vodka, 1 oz coffee liqueur, 1 oz Irish cream, 1 oz heavy cream and 1 tbsp chocolate syrup. Shake vigorously for 15–20 seconds until chilled and slightly frothy. Strain into the prepared glass over fresh ice.

4

Finish & garnish

Pour the blended or shaken Mudslide into the prepared glass. Top with 2 tablespoons of whipped cream if desired, and finish with a sprinkle of grated chocolate or a dusting of cocoa powder (about 1 tsp). Serve immediately with a straw and a spoon for the frozen version.

5

Notes & substitutions

For a lighter drink, reduce vodka to 1 oz. Substitute light cream or extra milk for heavy cream. For a boozy dessert twist, add 0.5 oz chocolate liqueur. For non-frozen, use heavy cream and shake; for frozen, use ice cream and blend.
