1

Muddle mint

Place the fresh mint leaves and the optional simple syrup (if you prefer a slightly sweeter Mule) into a cocktail shaker or mixing glass. Gently muddle 6 mint leaves just until they release aroma — avoid over-muddling to prevent bitterness.

2

Add spirits and citrus

Add 2 oz Grey Goose vodka and 0.5 oz fresh lime juice to the shaker with the muddled mint.

3

Build with ice

Fill a mule mug or highball glass with about 1 cup of crushed ice. If you prefer a stirred drink, add ice to the shaker now and give a gentle stir to chill; otherwise proceed to the next step and pour directly.

4

Combine and top

If you chilled the spirit mixture in the shaker, strain it over the crushed ice in the prepared glass. Top with 4 oz chilled ginger beer. Add 2 dashes of Angostura bitters over the top to give aromatic depth.

5

Garnish and serve

Give the drink a gentle stir to integrate the bitters and ginger beer with the spirit. Garnish with a lime wheel or wedge on the rim and a sprig of the muddled mint. Serve immediately with a straw.
