Cooking the Sauce

Add Tomatoes and Seasonings
Stir in the canned diced tomatoes, tomato paste, oregano, basil, salt, pepper, and sugar. Bring to a simmer and let cook for 20-25 minutes, stirring occasionally.
Cooking the Spaghetti

Boil the Pasta
In a large pot, bring salted water to a boil. Add the spaghetti and cook according to package instructions until al dente. Drain the pasta and set aside.
Making Garlic Toast

Prepare the Toast
Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Mix the softened butter, garlic powder, and chopped parsley in a small bowl. Spread the mixture evenly on the sliced French bread and place on a baking sheet.

Bake the Toast
Bake in the preheated oven for about 10-12 minutes, or until the bread is golden brown and toasted.
Assembling the Meal

Combine and Serve
Serve the spaghetti topped with the homemade sauce. Accompany with garlic toast and a side of mixed greens or coleslaw dressed to taste.
