Patty Melt Ingredients
Method
Instructions
- 1
Prepare the Onions
Slice the onion into thin rings. In a skillet, melt 1 tablespoon of butter over medium heat. Add the onions, sprinkle with salt and pepper, and sauté until they are golden brown and caramelized, about 10-15 minutes. Remove from heat and set aside.
- 2
Cook the Burger
In the same skillet, shape the ground beef into a patty and season both sides with salt and pepper. Increase heat to medium-high and cook the patty for about 3-4 minutes on each side, or until it reaches your desired level of doneness.
- 3
Assemble the Patty Melt
Place a slice of cheese on the cooked burger patty and let it melt slightly. Meanwhile, take the slices of wheat bread and spread 1 tablespoon of butter on one side of each slice.
- 4
Grill the Sandwich
In the same skillet, place one slice of bread butter-side down. Add the burger with melted cheese on top, followed by the caramelized onions. Top with the second slice of bread, butter-side up. Grill for about 3-4 minutes on each side, or until the bread is golden brown and crispy.
- 5
Serve
Remove the patty melt from the skillet, slice in half if desired, and serve hot.
