Method

Cocktail Base

1

Prepare honey syrup

If you don't have honey syrup ready, combine equal parts honey and warm water (for this recipe about 1/4 oz honey + 1/4 oz warm water), stir until fully blended and cool slightly.

2

Shake ingredients

In a cocktail shaker add 2 oz bourbon, 0.75 oz fresh lemon juice, 0.5 oz honey syrup, 0.25 oz orange liqueur and 2 dashes Angostura bitters. Fill the shaker with ice, cap it, and shake vigorously for 12–15 seconds until the outside of the shaker is cold.

3

Double-strain the shaken mixture into a chilled rocks glass over fresh ice (use one large cube or several medium cubes). Double-straining removes small ice chips and lemon pulp for a cleaner drink.

Brightener & Fizz

4

Top the cocktail with about 2 oz sparkling water or club soda. Gently stir once or twice to integrate the fizz without flattening it.

5

Express the orange peel over the drink: hold the peel with the outer skin facing down about 3–4 inches above the glass and give it a sharp squeeze to release the oils. Optionally rub the peel around the glass rim and drop it into the drink.

Garnish

6

Garnish with a thin lemon wheel on the lip or floated on the surface. Serve immediately while fizzy and cold.
