Vegetable Preparation

Method

Cauliflower Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Cauliflower

Wash the cauliflower thoroughly and cut it into bite-sized florets.

  2. 2

    Season the Cauliflower

In a mixing bowl, toss the cauliflower florets with salt and black pepper.

  3. 3

    Coat the Cauliflower

In another bowl, mix the all-purpose flour and cornstarch. Gradually add water to the dry mix to form a thick batter. Dip each cauliflower floret into the batter to coat evenly.

  4. 4

    Fry the Cauliflower

Heat oil in a deep frying pan over medium-high heat. Carefully add the battered cauliflower florets in batches and fry until golden brown and crispy. Remove and drain on paper towels.

Manchurian Sauce Preparation

  1. 5

    Make the Sauce

In a saucepan, combine soy sauce, chili sauce, minced garlic, and minced ginger. Bring to a simmer over medium heat.

  2. 6

    Thicken the Sauce

In a small bowl, mix cornstarch with water to create a slurry. Add this slurry to the simmering sauce and stir well. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes until the sauce thickens.

  3. 7

    Add Green Onions

Stir in chopped green onions and sesame oil into the sauce. Remove the saucepan from heat.

Final Assembly

  1. 8

    Combine Cauliflower and Sauce

Place the fried cauliflower in a large bowl and pour the Manchurian sauce over it. Toss gently to coat the cauliflower in the sauce.

  2. 9

    Serve

Serve immediately while hot, garnished with additional green onions if desired.
