Fries
Sausage Gravy
Method
Fries Preparation
- 1
Cutting the Potatoes
Wash and peel the Russet potatoes. Cut them into thin strips to form fries.
- 2
Soaking the Potatoes
Soak the cut fries in cold water for at least 30 minutes to remove excess starch. Drain and pat dry.
- 3
Sausage Gravy Preparation
- 4
Cooking the Sausage
In a large skillet over medium heat, add the ground pork sausage. Cook until browned and fully cooked, breaking it apart with a spatula, about 5-7 minutes.
- 5
Making the Roux
Sprinkle the flour over the cooked sausage and stir to combine. Cook for an additional 2 minutes to eliminate the raw flour taste.
- 6
Adding the Milk
Gradually pour in the milk while continuously stirring to avoid lumps. Bring to a gentle simmer and allow it to thicken, stirring frequently, for about 5 minutes.
- 7
Seasoning the Gravy
Add black pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and salt to the gravy. Stir well and simmer for another 2 minutes.
