Meatballs

Tomato Sauce

Tahini Yogurt

Method

Meatball Preparation

  1. 1

    Mix Meatball Ingredients

In a large bowl, combine the ground lamb, ground pork, chopped red bell pepper, minced garlic, cumin, paprika, coriander, salt, black pepper, egg, and chopped parsley.

  2. 2

    Form Meatballs

Using your hands, mix the ingredients until well combined. Form the mixture into meatballs, about 1.5 inches in diameter, and place them on a tray.

Cooking Meatballs

  1. 3

    Brown the Meatballs

In a large skillet over medium heat, add a bit of olive oil and brown the meatballs on all sides. This should take about 8-10 minutes. Once browned, remove them from the skillet and set aside.

Tomato Sauce Preparation

  1. 4

    Sauté Onions and Garlic

In the same skillet, add 2 tablespoons of olive oil. Add the finely chopped onion and sauté until translucent, about 5 minutes. Add the minced garlic and sauté for an additional minute.

  2. 5

    Add Tomatoes and Seasonings

Stir in the canned crushed tomatoes, dried oregano, salt, and black pepper. Bring the sauce to a simmer.

  3. 6

    Combine Meatballs with Sauce

Add the browned meatballs back into the skillet with the tomato sauce. Cover and simmer for about 20 minutes until the meatballs are cooked through.

  4. 7

    Add Red Wine Vinegar

Stir in the red wine vinegar just before serving.

Tahini Yogurt Preparation

  1. 8

    Mix Yogurt Ingredients

In a small bowl, combine the plain yogurt, tahini, lemon juice, minced garlic, and salt. Stir until smooth and well blended.

Serving

  1. 9

    Serve

To serve, place meatballs on a plate, generously spoon the tomato sauce over them, and drizzle with tahini yogurt.
