Preparation

   Chill the Glass

   Begin by chilling your cocktail glass. You can do this by filling it with ice water while you prepare the drink, then discard the ice water before serving.

   Mix the Ingredients

   In a mixing glass, combine 2 oz of bourbon, 1 oz of sweet vermouth, and 2 dashes of Angostura bitters. Fill the mixing glass with ice.

   Stir

   Using a bar spoon, stir the mixture gently for about 30 seconds until well chilled and properly diluted.

   Strain into Glass

   Remove ice water from your chilled cocktail glass and strain the mixture from the mixing glass into the cocktail glass.

   Garnish

   Twist a piece of orange peel over the drink to release its oils, then drop it into the glass. Finally, add a maraschino cherry for garnish.
