Pickling Vegetables

Method

Pickling Process

  1. 1

    Prepare the Vegetables

Wash and peel the carrots, then cut them into thin strips. Chop the cabbage into thin slices.

  2. 2

    Make the Pickling Liquid

In a saucepan, combine white vinegar, water, sugar, and salt. Bring the mixture to a boil over medium heat, stirring until the sugar and salt dissolve.

  3. 3

    Add Flavorings

Once boiling, add the garlic cloves, black peppercorns, dill seeds, and red pepper flakes to the pickling liquid. Remove from heat and let it cool slightly.

  4. 4

    Combine and Jar

In sterilized jars, layer the carrots and cabbage. Pour the pickling liquid over the vegetables, ensuring they are fully submerged. Seal the jars tightly.

  5. 5

    Refrigerate

Allow the jars to cool to room temperature, then refrigerate for at least 24 hours before serving. The pickled vegetables can be stored in the fridge for up to 2 weeks.
