Prepare the Brownie Base

Melt Butter
In a medium saucepan, melt the unsalted butter over low heat. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.

Mix Sugars
Stir in granulated sugar and brown sugar until combined.

Add Eggs and Vanilla
Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in vanilla extract.

Combine Dry Ingredients
In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, salt, and baking powder.

Combine Mixtures
Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.

Pour the batter into a greased 9x13 inch baking pan and bake at 350°F (175°C) for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.

Allow brownies to cool in the pan before frosting.
Prepare the Frosting

In a mixing bowl, beat the softened butter until creamy.

Gradually add powdered sugar and vanilla extract, mixing until smooth.

Adjust Consistency
Add milk as needed to achieve desired frosting consistency. Mix well.

If desired, mix in food coloring for a decorative touch.
Assemble

Spread the frosting evenly over the cooled brownies. Cut into squares and serve.
