Cookie Base

Method

  1. 1

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease or line a 9x13-inch pan with parchment paper.

  2. 2

In a bowl, combine melted butter, granulated sugar, brown sugar, and vanilla extract. Mix until smooth. Add the egg and mix well.

  3. 3

In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt. Gradually add this to the wet mixture, stirring until just combined. Fold in the chocolate chips.

  4. 4

Spread the cookie base evenly in the prepared pan and bake for 15 minutes.

Making the Brownie Layer

  1. 5

    Prepare Brownie Batter

In a medium bowl, combine melted butter and sugar. Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in vanilla.

  2. 6

    Mix Dry Ingredients

In another bowl, whisk together cocoa powder, flour, and salt. Gradually add to the wet mixture until just combined. Fold in chocolate chips.

  3. 7

    Add Brownie Layer

Pour the brownie batter over the partially baked cookie base and spread evenly.

  4. 8

    Bake Together

Return to the oven and bake for an additional 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

  5. 9

    Cool and Serve

Allow to cool in the pan for at least 15 minutes before slicing into squares and serving.
