Method
Banh Mi Directions
- 1
Prepare the Pork
In a bowl, combine soy sauce, fish sauce, rice vinegar, sugar, salt, and black pepper. Marinate the pork shoulder in this mixture for at least 1 hour or overnight in the refrigerator.
- 2
Cook the Pork
Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Place the marinated pork on a baking sheet and roast for 1 hour, or until the internal temperature reaches 145°F (63°C). Let it rest before slicing.
- 3
Prepare the Vegetables
Julienne the cucumber, carrot, and daikon radish. In a bowl, mix the vegetables with rice vinegar, a pinch of salt, and set aside to pickle slightly.
- 4
Assemble the Banh Mi
Slice the baguette lengthwise without cutting all the way through. Spread mayonnaise on both sides of the bread. Layer the sliced pork, pickled vegetables, fresh cilantro, and sliced jalapeño inside the baguette.
- 5
Serve
Cut the Banh Mi into smaller portions and serve immediately, enjoying the blend of flavors and textures.
