Main Cocktail

Method

Main Cocktail

1

Combine and dry shake

In a shaker, add vodka, elderflower liqueur, fresh grapefruit juice, fresh lemon juice, simple syrup, grenadine, and egg white (if using). Do not add ice yet. Dry shake vigorously for 15–20 seconds to emulsify the egg white and create a silky texture and light foam.

2

Shake with ice

Add a generous handful of ice to the shaker. Shake hard for 12–15 seconds until the shaker is cold to the touch (this chills and dilutes the cocktail properly).

3

Strain into glass

Double-strain the mixture (use a Hawthorne strainer and a fine mesh strainer if available) into a chilled Collins glass or highball filled with fresh ice. The drink should have a pale pink hue with a small foam cap if egg white was used.

Top & Garnish

4

Top with soda

Gently float 2 oz chilled club soda over the back of a spoon onto the cocktail to create a light effervescence without disturbing the foam too much.

5

Garnish and serve

Carefully place a grapefruit wheel or twist on the rim and add an edible pink flower or small mint sprig if desired. Serve with a straw and a napkin.
