Method

Preparing the Shrimp

  1. 1

    Boil the Shrimp

In a large pot, combine 4 cups of water and 1 tablespoon of salt. Bring the mixture to a boil over high heat.

  2. 2

    Add Shrimp

Once the water is boiling, add 1 pound of peeled and deveined shrimp along with the halved lemon. Boil the shrimp for about 2-3 minutes, or until they turn pink and opaque.

  3. 3

    Ice Bath

Remove the pot from heat and transfer the shrimp into an ice bath (a bowl of ice water) to stop the cooking process. Let them sit in the ice bath for about 5 minutes, then drain and set aside.

Making the Cocktail Sauce

  1. 4

    Combine Ingredients

In a medium bowl, mix together 1 cup of ketchup, 2 tablespoons of prepared horseradish, 1 tablespoon of lemon juice, 1 teaspoon of Worcestershire sauce, and 1 teaspoon of hot sauce.

  2. 5

    Season the Sauce

Taste the cocktail sauce and add salt to taste, mixing well to combine all flavors.

Serving the Dish

  1. 6

    Plate the Shrimp

Arrange the chilled shrimp on a serving platter or individual plates.

  2. 7

    Add Sauce and Garnish

Serve the shrimp with the cocktail sauce on the side. Garnish with lemon wedges and sprinkle with 2 tablespoons of chopped fresh parsley.
