Tostadas

Method

Tostadas

  1. 1

    Crisp the tostadas

Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C). Arrange the tostada shells in a single layer on a baking sheet. Bake for 6–8 minutes, turning once, until crisp and lightly golden. Remove from oven and let cool slightly.

  2. 2

    Prepare the guacamole

Halve and scoop the avocados into a bowl. Add lime juice to prevent browning, then mix in the finely chopped red onion, cilantro, and minced jalapeño. Season with salt and mash to a chunky texture if you prefer some bite.

  3. 3

    Prep lettuce and tomatoes

Rinse and dry the lettuce, then shred. Dice the tomatoes into small pieces and set aside.

  4. 4

    Assemble

Spread a generous layer of guacamole on each crisp tostada shell. Top with shredded lettuce, then sprinkle the diced tomatoes over the lettuce. Finish with a light dusting of shredded cheese.

  5. 5

    Serve

Arrange the finished tostadas on a platter and serve immediately while the shells stay crisp. Optional: offer lime wedges or a dollop of sour cream on the side.
