Soft Drink Base

Garnish & Finish

Method

Prepare Glass

  1. 1

    Rim the glass (optional)

If using chamoy and Tajín, spread chamoy in a shallow dish. Pour Tajín on a separate small plate. Run a lime wedge around the glass rim, dip the rim first into chamoy (lightly) then into Tajín so seasoning adheres. Set glass aside.

  2. 2

If not rimming, run a lime wedge around the rim for a subtle citrus scent or skip this step.

Build the Drink

  1. 3

Fill the prepared glass with about 1 cup of ice (cubes or crushed) leaving room at the top for the soda.

  2. 4

Add 1 tablespoon fresh lime juice and 1 teaspoon fresh lemon juice directly over the ice. These small amounts brighten the combined soda and are typical in Mexican-style served soft drinks.

  3. 5

Pour 6 oz chilled Coca-Cola into the glass slowly to avoid excessive foaming.

  4. 6

Carefully pour 6 oz chilled Sprite into the glass over the back of a spoon or down the side of the glass to create a gentle layered mix and reduce fizzing. Together the two sodas create the flavor profile known as Mexican Coke + Sprite blend.

  5. 7

Stir gently once with a long spoon 1–2 slow strokes to integrate the citrus and sodas without flattening the carbonation.

Season & Garnish

  1. 8

Sprinkle a pinch (about 1 teaspoon) of fine salt into the drink and stir gently to dissolve. The salt enhances sweetness and the overall flavor balance. Taste and adjust: add a touch more salt if desired, but go light.

  2. 9

Garnish with a lime wheel or wedge on the rim. Serve immediately while fizzy and cold.
