Method
Burger
- 1
Form the patty
Divide the ground beef into one 85 g portion and gently form into a round patty about 3/4 inch (2 cm) thick. Do not overwork the meat — press a slight dimple in the center with your thumb so it cooks evenly.
- 2
Season
Season both sides lightly with salt and black pepper (use the 'to taste' amount listed).
- 3
Cook the patty
Heat a nonstick skillet or griddle over medium heat. Add 1 tsp vegetable oil and swirl to coat. When shimmering, add the patty. Cook 2.5–3 minutes on the first side without pressing. Flip and cook another 2–3 minutes for a well-cooked kid-friendly patty (adjust ±30–60 seconds for desired doneness).

Serve
Place the assembled cheeseburger on a small plate ready for the child. Keep the burger warm while finishing the side.
Fries (choice)
- 8
If using frozen fries (quick option)
Preheat oven to 220°C (425°F) or set air fryer to 200°C (400°F). Spread 100 g frozen fries in a single layer on a baking sheet or in the air fryer basket. Bake 12–16 minutes (oven) or 8–10 minutes (air fryer), turning halfway, until golden and crispy. Season lightly with salt while hot.
- 9
If making fresh fries from potato
Peel (optional) and cut the 150 g potato into child-size fry sticks. Rinse and pat dry. Toss with 1 tsp olive oil and a pinch of salt. Roast on a parchment-lined baking sheet at 220°C (425°F) for 20–25 minutes, turning halfway, until tender and golden. For faster cooking, parboil cut fries 3–4 minutes before roasting.
- 10
Portion
Portion the finished fries into a small side cup or on the plate next to the burger for a kid-friendly serving.
Fruit (choice)
- 11
Prepare fruit
Wash and dry fruit. Slice apple and halve grapes if included. Measure 1/2 cup mixed fruit and place in a small bowl or side cup. Keep chilled until serving.
Fountain Drink (choice)
- 12
Fill cup
Add 3 ice cubes to a small kid-sized cup. Dispense 355 ml fountain drink of choice (or fill with water) and serve with a child-friendly straw.
