Method

Prepare components

  1. 1

    Chill serving bowl

If possible, chill the sundae bowl or glass in the freezer for 5–10 minutes to keep the ice cream from melting quickly.

  2. 2

    Warm sauces (optional)

Warm hot fudge, caramel, toffee sauce, or peanut butter slightly in the microwave for 10–15 seconds so they pour smoothly. Stir after warming.

  3. 3

    Prep solid toppings

If not pre-prepared, crumble chocolate chip cookies, brownies, pretzels, and peanut butter crumble into bite-size pieces. Chop peanuts and cut cheesecake into small cubes. Lightly crush potato chips and cookie dough into small scoops if needed.

Build the sundae

  1. 4

Place the chilled bowl or glass on your workspace.

  2. 5

Spoon 3 scoops of vanilla ice cream into the bowl, stacking gently so there is space on top for toppings and whipped cream.

  3. 6

Choose any three toppings from the Toppings section. Distribute each chosen topping evenly over the ice cream so each scoop gets some. Example combinations: (1) hot fudge + brownie pieces + toasted coconut; (2) caramel + peanuts + pretzels; (3) fresh berries + cheesecake pieces + raspberry sauce.

  4. 7

Drizzle sauces as appropriate: pour about 1–2 tablespoons of hot fudge, caramel, toffee, raspberry, or strawberry sauce over the chosen toppings. If using peanut butter, spoon 1 tablespoon warmed peanut butter and lightly swirl on top.

  5. 8

Add the fresh in-house whipped cream (about 1/2 cup) on top of the sundae, creating an even dollop or swirl.

  6. 9

Garnish the whipped cream with the mini chocolate chip cookie on one side and sprinkle 1 teaspoon sprinkles or 1 tablespoon peanut butter crumble, crushed peanuts, or toasted coconut for texture, depending on your chosen toppings.

  7. 10

Add an optional cherry on top if desired.

Serve

  1. 11

Serve immediately with a long-handled spoon so the diner can reach all layers. Provide napkins for sticky toppings.

  2. 12

If preparing multiple sundaes, build each to order so toppings and whipped cream remain fresh and cold.
