Method

Cocktail

1

Chill glass

Place a coupe or martini glass in the freezer for 5–10 minutes, or fill it with ice water while you prepare the cocktail to chill.

2

Combine ingredients

In a cocktail shaker, add 1 oz green crème de menthe, 1 oz white crème de cacao, and 1 oz heavy cream (or half-and-half).

3

Add ice and shake

Fill the shaker with ice (about 1 cup), secure the lid, and shake vigorously for 12–15 seconds until the shaker feels very cold and the mixture is slightly frothy.

4

Strain

Discard ice or water from the chilled glass if you used ice water. Double-strain the cocktail into the chilled coupe or martini glass using a cocktail strainer (and a fine mesh strainer if you prefer an extra-smooth texture).

5

Garnish and serve

Garnish with a fresh mint sprig placed on the rim or floated on top. Optionally, lightly grate a little chocolate or dust with cocoa powder over the top for contrast. Serve immediately.

Notes & alternatives

6

For a boozier variation, increase each liqueur to 1.25 oz and reduce cream to 0.75 oz. For a frozen Grasshopper, combine the same ingredients with 1 cup of ice in a blender and blend until smooth.
